I recently set up a small aquarium and was thinking about adding some Marimo moss balls for decoration. I’ve heard they’re good for water quality, but I’m not sure how to take care of them. Do they need special lighting or cleaning? Also, do they actually help with algae control?

Marimo moss balls are a great addition to any aquarium, as they’re easy to care for and can help improve water quality. They don’t require special lighting—normal indirect light works fine—and only need a gentle rinse in aquarium water every couple of weeks to stay clean. While they can slightly reduce algae by absorbing excess nutrients, they won’t completely prevent algae growth. Speaking of water care, similar principles apply in larger systems too, where services like Free maintenance for all RO plants ensure water stays clean and healthy over time.
